Grace VanderWaal

Grace VanderWaal is from Suffern, New York, and was the winner of America's Got Talent in 2016.  She lives with her mother, father, her older sister by three years (and best friend) Olivia, and two dogs. Grace started writing music at the age of three, making up songs with her wireless microphone. Before her audition, she had never sung in front of very large crowds.

To me, these types of awards don't really indicate any more than an artists fans submitting online votes and in this case many, many votes. So there is no indication that the winner is any better than any of the others in the category. I did vote a couple of times but nowhere near as many as some of the diehard fans haha.

As you probably know, I'm not a fan of these, so called awards, where fans enter multiple times so that their idols can win some sort of meaningless award.

The mad Grace fans have been doing it for some time now trying to skew the competitions by voting online thousands of times so that she can "win". Well, it all came to a shuddering halt the other day. Grace was going along at around 90% of the vote when all of a sudden her percentages dropped down to around 30% in a matter of seconds. When that happened Jackie Evancho's vote went from 30% to 90%. It seems that someone has found a way to add thousands of votes without having to actually press keys multiple times.

The competition was "The Best Under 20" and run by ET Canada. Their twitter account was filled with angry comments by the aggrieved Grace fans but to no avail. Grace was voted out.

I thought that this multiple voting would catch up with them at some stage so I wasn't surprised when it happened.

I don't think that an artist's success is defined by how many votes their fans can give in these comps but by how many cds and downloads they sell and how many successful concerts they do.

Sounds like some Jackie fan developed one of those robot programs or hacked the site. Not that those internet polls really matter, but it's too bad that everyone just can't play fair. :x

Grace has announced she is "going on tour". I have no idea what size these venues are or if there are support acts but I just wonder if it may be a bit soon. She is due to release her first full album in September and if it is successful then maybe the tour may be successful.

I read that all the venues were sold out three days after the tickets went on sale.

The only venue were there was some doubt was at Washington DC.
